As a chimney sweep, you have to clean the chimneys of open fires. These include coal, gas, oil and wood-fired heating systems. This work helps to reduce the risks of chimney fires and dangerous fumes. Practical skills in using a range of tools and equipment are needed to be a chimney sweep.
Other than that, you need to have ability to work at heights and climb ladders. You need to get on job training because company always hired chimney sweep with experienced. As a chimney sweep, they usually work between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday but may also work on Saturday. Spring and autumn is the busiest times for chimney sweep. The most important for chimney sweep is to take care of health and safety issues because this work is risky. Part of salary, there are no set rates of pay because they earns according to how much work they have.
